Youth Crime Watch of America is a non profit 501 (c) (3) youth-led leadership movement that utilizes crime prevention as one of several ways to develop future leaders in schools and communities. With programs throughout the US and abroad in both schools and communities, Youth Crime Watch of America has been in existence since the early 1980’s with our original concept dating to the mid 70’s. It is a program where young people are taking ownership to make schools, communities and neighborhoods safer while instilling self-reliance and care and respect for others. It is the communications network for youth to share ideas, utilize training, find support and organize to “Watch Out and Help Out” in our global communities across the world. Unlike other well intended youth based programs where adults attempt to solve youth problems, we give youngsters the tools and guidance necessary to actively reduce drugs, crimes and violence in their respective environments. We are supported in part by the US Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Bureau of Justice Assistance and US Department of Education as well as private grants, foundations and donations. Our program is designed to provide crime-free, drug-free and violence-free environments; to instill positive values, foster good citizenship and build self-confidence in our young people; to enable youth to become resources for preventing crime, drug use and violence in their schools and neighborhoods.
